South America- Frutillar, Chile

Museo Colonial Aleman, Frutillar: Located on a hillock, The German Colonial Museum recreates the typical layout of an estancia in the middle of the 19th century, when German immigrants settled in Frutillar. The gardens, as well as the five buildings with wood shingle walls, overlook the lake. A walk among aged trees and colorful flowerbeds led us to each of the buildings we visited. The room is an introduction to the tour of the museum, displays the historical background of the colonization process of Llanelli, as well as the characteristics of the archaeological and Hispanic occupation of the region. The exhibition includes pieces from the era, documents and photographs. The garden is absolutely fabulous. There were some flowers I saw for the first time, like that orange colored flowers at the lake front (see my last post) and then again in the garden.

South America - Frutillar, Chile

Frutillar is a city and commune located in southern Chile in the Los Lagos Region. The bay of Frutillar is placed on the banks of Lake Llanquihue, the largest lake entirely within Chile. Frutillar is known as the "City of Music".

South America- Puerto Varas,Chile

As you drive from Puerto Montt to Puerto Varas , you will see an array of colorful shingled homes, a beautiful neo-classical cathedral in the Plaza de Armas, German style architectured buildings, house and cathedrals. As you drive in the country around Llanquihue Lake, you can see the beautiful countryside also with interesting architecture houses (Photos were taken on a rainy day).

South America- Wineries in Casablanca

Driving from Santiago to Valparaiso, you can feel you are in the wine country. The signs along the drive and the landscape. Once of the winery located in Casablanca: VINA CASAS DEL BOSQUE offer relaxing, beautiful and peaceful tasting environment. There is a full kitchen restaurant at the winery. The wines there were excellent and the so were the food. You must dine and wine in there.
