Washington DC Wharf District

Last year,  while visiting DC,  I remembered a friend had told me that  there is a new chic hang out place in Washington DC.  So,  we planned to go check it out, but we did not get in there because all the roads lead to it  seemed piled up with cars on that day.
This summer, we made it!  It was indeed a new place.  All the restaurants, boardwalks, the bridges, the sculptures… all new.  What was left from the old were couple of seafood markets at the very end of the walk.  It was only while there walking around, I learned (from the sign on the street) that place was called Wharf District.

Washington DC Navy Yard

DC Navy Yard is a fun place to go in the summer. You can stroll along the wide and long boardwalk; with view of the Anacostia river and sometimes you can even see some real bottle ships parked on the water.

On that summer day, we saw a couple getting married on the boardwalk! There was also a small yet very pleasant park provides you a place to rest, or watching the kayaker or sailboats running around in the river… Nearby, you can enjoy watching the kids were playing in a community pool …
Then,  there is Department of Labor near by. When you stroll through, you can see some very interesting sculptures.
