We arrived in Nazare in the evening and hurried to the Nazare Lighthouse to catch the sunset and waves. Since our car was parked a little ways away from the lighthouse, we took the opportunity to walk along the beach and trail to reach our destination

Trip to Spain and Portugal - Mosteiro de Alcobaca, Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Alcobaca

On our journey to Nazare, we stopped to visit the Santa Maria Della Monastery in Alcobaca, Portugal, also known as the Alcobaca Monastery. Established in 1153 by the first Portuguese King, Afonso Henriques, it is considered one of the most important medieval monasteries in Portugal and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1989. The most captivating features of the monastery are the two beautifully sculptured royal tombs in the church, which belong to King Pedro I and his mistress Ines de Castro.

In my opinion, Obidos was the most colorful and beautiful town we visited on our entire trip. Walking on its narrow streets felt like flipping through a postcard album. The careful decoration and vivid colors on every corner and house made me feel like I was walking through a fairytale.
