Bodø, Norway

We spent half a day in Bodø, and I explored the city on foot.

City Walk in Bodø

First, I set my GPS to Stormen Library, the main public library of Bodø. It was just a 13-minute walk away. To get there, I walked through the city center, enjoying the lively atmosphere.

I could feel the city's good vibes—there were many tourists, easily recognizable as they carried their luggage while strolling through the streets.

Stormen Library is located right on the waterfront, and each floor offers stunning views of the harbor. The library is modern, spacious, and has won several awards, even being ranked among the top 10 in its category.

After visiting the library, I walked to Bodø Domkirke, the city's cathedral. Next to it stands Bodø domkirketårn (Bodø Cathedral Tower), a 36-meter-high freestanding clock tower completed in 1956. The tower houses three bells and is a striking feature of the cathedral complex.

From there, I made my way to Bodø Rådhus (City Hall), but it was not open to the public.

Leisurely strolling back through the city center, I did some shopping and bought a skirt—which I immediately put on!

Then, I headed to the waterfront, where I took photos with some interesting landmarks:

The Little Mermaid statue, a life-sized bronze sculpture depicting a mermaid with the likeness of Emma Watson, unveiled on Bodø's harbor promenade in 2024.

A beautifully decorated boat, adding a colorful touch to the scenery.

I continued walking along the harbor promenade (Harbor Mile), a central gathering place where locals and visitors relax, eat, and take in the scenic views of the sea and surrounding landscapes—a view I had admired earlier from the Stormen Library.

Finally, it was time to head back to the ship.

Impressions of Bodø

Bodø is not a small town, but a moderate-sized city with modern buildings, cars, and infrastructure, rather than the small, wooden houses one might expect. The drivers were very courteous, always stopping to let pedestrians cross.

The streets were vibrant and colorful, decorated with flowers and gardens, adding to the city's charm. Instead of feeling like a quiet town, Bodø had the energy of a lively, thriving city.

I had originally planned to go on a hike after visiting the library, but I spent too much time exploring the city center and waterfront, taking photos and soaking in the atmosphere. I made it back to the boat just before 2:30 PM, right in time for our 3:30 PM departure.

Harstad, Norway (continued)

I walked a little bit of downtown Harstad, a charming town filled with colorful buildings of different architectural styles. I continued my walk uphill to Harstad Church, another elegantly designed church surrounded. From the church grounds, I enjoyed a nice view of the town below—a perfect way to wrap up my day in Harstad.

In the evening, its time to say goodbye to Harstad.  I have enclosed couple of pictures at sail away time.
