The best of Switzerland- Geneva- United Nation

Palais des Nations (Palace of Nations) Originally built to house the leagus of Nations, the Place of Nations was built between 1929 and 1936 to serve as the headquarters of the League of Nations. It has served as the home of the United Nations Office at Geneva sine 1946 when the Secretary General of the UN singed a Headquarters agreement with the Swiss authorities, although Switzerland did not become a member of the UN untill 2002. We arrived the place little after 4pm when it was closed to the public. I only have few photos of the flags outside the gate.

The best of Switzerland - Geneva- Place St. Pierre

Cathedrale St-Pierre, Place St. Pierre (at the highest point in the Old Town) A noteworthy space of unique spiritual and cultural importance. The Cathedral and its towers, originally Catholic, both embody the high point of the REformed tradition and explore the origins of Christianity with an extensive archaeological site and they are now complemented by the International Museum of the Reformation on the ground floor of the Maision Mallet. The tower of the Place provides good paranamic review of the city of Geneva, Jet d"Eau and lake.

The best of Switzerland - Geneva - Jet d'Eau and Lake Geneva

Jet d'Eau (Fountain of Geneva): One of the crowning symbols of Geneva, a fountain of water pumped 140m into the air. The spectacular plume was once an occasional pressure release for hydro-power generation on the Phone River, but people liked it so much that in 1891 the city created a permanent pumped fountain. (Reference Source: vikitravel.org) Photos in this post showing Jet d'Eau seen from different parts of the city.
