Sugarloaf Mountain, Rio, Brazil

It's name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined sugarloaf.  It is known worldwide for its cable way and panoramic views of the city, Sugarloaf Mountain is another must visit when you are in Rio.  It’s hill top provides you panoramic view of Rio from different angles than what provided by Crist the Redeemer plate on Corcovado mountain.    To reach the summit of this mountain, you will take cable car.  It first takes you to a platform in between the ground level and Sugarloaf Mountain,  then from there,  the car transfers you to another cable car to reach the summit.  Here are the photos taken from that journey at two different levels overlooking the city of Rio.













Christ the Redeemer, Re de Janeiro, Brazil


Located at the top of the Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park, Christ the Redeemer is an statue of Jesus Christ created by French sculptor Paul Landowski.

The statue is said to weight 635 tons and is overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro and is listed as one of the New 7 wonders of the world.  From there you see the city of Rio de Janeiro's beautiful mountains especially Sugarloaf Mountains decorated by the water and city.

Only two hours north of Rio de Janeiro, Buzios is a popular get away for locals to escape the crowded metropolis.  I felt I was in paradise!

ILhabela, Brazil

Lies just off the coast of Brazil, a little more than 200 miles south of Rio de Janeiro.  This is the largest of the islands.  Along with the other two main islands, Buzios and Vitoria and half a dozen islets, the entire archipelago is home to around 28, 000 residents.  With mile of inviting beaches, a coastal rainforest and some 400 cooling waterfalls, Ilhabela is a paradise for the outdoor lovers.
