River Street, Savannah, Georgia

At the edge of historical district, a street right at the water front where you can see Talmadge Memorial bridge on Savannah River at your left and the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort building from the across the water at your right.
There were also some noticeable land marks on the street:  The World War II monument,  also known as “The Cracked Earth” monument. The two halves of the globe are split, representing the conflict of a world divided; The anchor monument; The Propeller Club Memorial, Savannah, GA; The African American Monument , all of which provide you with huge amounts of history up and down Savannah’s beautiful cobblestone riverfront.
Sometimes you also see Georgia Queen, a riverboat cruising on the river or ducked right in front of the street.  There were restaurants, boutiques stores, canndy stores (local treats!) and souvenir stores at one side of the street, with spacious walking space and beaches for you to rest, a truly romantic place for you to enjoy.

Tybee Lighthouse, Savannah, Georgia

According to online report, ordered by General James Oglethorpe, Governor of the 13th colony, in 1732, the Tybee Lighthouse has been guiding mariners safe entrance into the Savannah River for over 270 years.

It was located few miles away from Cockspur Island light.   I only got chance to take photo of it outside on the ground.  The light house was closed by the time we arrived there around 4pm.

Cockspur Island light, Savannah, Georgia

Just about 25 minutes drive from Savannah history district, it was reported as the smallest light house in  Georgia.  According to Wikipedia, this lighthouse was initially built as a daymarker without lights to indicate the entrance to the South Channel of the Savannah River. Construction lasted from March 1837 to November 1839.

It was an adventure for me to find a way to locate a place where it would be closed enough  for photographing this light house.  But here are the photos.  Those imagines gave  such special peaceful and romantic feelings!   Enjoy!

The following website provides a very good background for this light house: http://lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=324

In search of a good place to go in the earlier spring, I did a search on Google (see my last post).
Charleston and Savannah have both made to the list.  Both places are in driving distance and close to each other, it was a easy choice!

Both place offers  rich history, culture and great weather among other things.  Stay tuned for some amazing photos of Charleston and Savannah!

Tiger Kingdom Chiang Mai

At Chiang Mai's Tiger Kingdom, you can purchase  different price packages that allow you to be up close to different sized animals.  More you pay, bigger the animal!  The lions and tigers in these photos are all domestically trained that used to be around the tourist to be up close and taking photos with them.  However, you must be cautious to never to touch front parts of the lions.  These lions are still young lines who are very playful.  You are allowed about 5-10 min spent with them under staff supervision.  This was the first time, I got to be with these animals so close!  I must say it was bit scary but at the same time exciting.

Elephant Kingom, Chiang Mai

Elephant Kingdom tour is another stop specially designed for tourists visiting Chiang Mai. There, you have chance to see and interact with domestically trained elephants. You will receive lectures about local elephants, how to make their food where supplement were added and how to feed them, giving them bath in a small stream, and ride them for short moments, taking photos with them. To me, it was the mostly memorable and meaningful tourist activities in Thailand. After visited these elephants, you got to know how lovely and warm and intelligent these giants animals can be! How as human, we have obligations to preserve and protect them.
