Iceland (1) Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon spa is one of the most visited attractions in Iceland. The spa is located in a lava field in Grindavík on the Reykjanes Peninsula

Iceland

Having just visited what I considered the most beautiful country, Switzerland, then come to visit  Iceland.
My first impression was gosh, how ugly is this country!!!  There were nothing but miles and miles of
Lava.  Grey and black….
However, behind these miles of ugliness, I came to appreciate the unique beauties presented to me in one and ½ day excursions.  Afterwards, I said to myself, I will like to come back again to see more of Iceland.

Outside of my window - Robin

A Robin out side of my window on a raining day: A poem from Noël Coward As I awoke this morning When all sweet things are born A robin perched upon my sill To signal the coming dawn. The bird was fragile, young and gay And sweetly did it sing The thoughts of happiness and joy Into my heart did bring. I smiled softly at the cheery song Then as it paused, a moment’s lull, I gently closed the window And crushed its fucking skull. http://www.noelcoward.net/html/sketches.html Find it in Noel Coward, Collected Verse -1999 Methuen edition.

Roxborough State Park- Denver, Colorado

Roxborough State Park is a popular state park located in the southwestern suburbs of Denver, Colorado, in the United States. The park covers an area of approximately 4,000 acres and is home to a variety of geological formations, including red sandstone formations, rock outcroppings, and scenic vistas. The park's most notable geological feature is the Fountain Formation, which is a red sandstone formation that is approximately 300 million years old. The formation is home to a variety of fossils, including marine animals, plants, and insects. The park's Visitor Center has exhibits that showcase these fossils, as well as other natural and cultural history of the area. I have hiked through many national parks, and I believe that the views from the various hiking trails here in Roxborough State Park are the most breathtaking, as if they could only exist in one's dreams. Even days after returning home, I find myself still dreaming about them. I absolutely love that feeling.

Outside my Window - Morning Dove

The Mourning Dove, also known as the American Mourning Dove, is a medium-sized bird that is native to North America. It is a member of the dove family and is known for its distinctive cooing call, which is a familiar sound in many parts of the continent. The Mourning Dove is a slender bird with a long, pointed tail and a plump body. It has a brownish-gray plumage that is speckled with black spots on the wings and back, and a pale buff-colored underside. The male and female look similar, but the male can be identified by a iridescent patch on its neck. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to capture some images of them when they visited my neighborhood.

Outside my window - Starling (Black Bird)

One day, I took some photos of Sterlings outside my window and noticed that each photo showed the birds carrying small pieces of material, presumably to use in building their nest. It was amazing to see each bird with something in its mouth! I now have a better understanding of how these birds construct their nests.

Outside my window - English Sparrow

very morning, I wake up to the delightful sound of birds chirping outside my window. For a long time, I wasn't able to capture decent pictures of these birds, but that all changed when I purchased my second bridge camera, which has a powerful 50x zoom. Here are some of the bird pictures I have taken with my new camera. After doing some research, I learned that the sparrow is the most common bird in the area around my house.
