Australia- 18) Up close with Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge

Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge are world-class landmarks and architectural marvels. One of the reasons I wanted to visit Australia was my dream of seeing them in person. Now that I am here, I want to document my experience. I spent quite some time walking around the Opera House and the Bridge to capture some great shots of me with these two architectural wonders!

Here are photos from different days, taken at various times and in different weather conditions.

Australia- 17) Sydney Queen Victoria Building (QVB)

The Queen Victoria Building is a magnificent example of Romanesque revival architecture. Designed by the architect George McRae, the building was constructed between 1893 and 1898. Its exterior features grand arches, intricate stonework, and large central and smaller domes, with the central dome being a striking copper-sheathed feature topped with a cupola. The interior is equally impressive, adorned with stained glass windows, elaborate tile mosaics, and a series of grand staircases.

QVB is a premier shopping destination in Sydney. It hosts a wide array of retail stores, including high-end fashion boutiques, jewelry shops, and specialty stores.

Notable Features

The Great Australian Clock: This elaborate clock stands 10 meters tall and displays 33 scenes from Australian history, featuring over 140 hand-painted figures.

The Royal Clock: This clock performs on the hour and showcases animated scenes from English royalty history, complete with music and moving figures.

Stained Glass Windows and Domes: The building's stained glass windows and the central dome are highlights, creating a stunning visual effect with natural light.

Australia- 16) Walk Sydney Harbor Bridge

Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk: Starting from Milsons Point, walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge using the pedestrian pathway, enjoying spectacular views of the harbour and city skyline.

Upon arrivved Circular Quay, I took a ferry from McMahons Point (F3 or F4) to Milsons Point Walf.  I spent some time walking around the waterfront offers stunning views of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

To walk the Bridge:

Starting Point: walk towards North Sydney and continue walk under the Bridge pass Bradfield Park which is located directly beneath the bridge. It's also where you can find the entrance to the pedestrian pathway (see photo where shows "Bridge Stairs) that takes you to the pedestrian access point for the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Pedestrian Pathway: The pedestrian walkway runs along the eastern side of the bridge, separated from the car lanes and railway tracks. The walkway is well-maintained and safe.

Distance and Duration: The total length of the walk across the bridge is approximately 1.5 kilometers (1 mile). It takes about 20 to 30 minutes at a leisurely pace, though you might want to allow more time to stop and enjoy the views.

Spectacular Views: As you walk, you’ll have incredible views of Sydney Harbour, the Sydney Opera House, and the city skyline. There are several viewpoints along the way where you can stop and take photos.

Ending Point:

The Rocks: Once you reach the southern end of the bridge, you'll arrive in The Rocks.
